In an effort to encourage Ghanaians to adopt regular hand washing practices in their day-to-day activities, Polytank Ghana, the largest producer of sanitation products, has launched the novel Poly Safe Wash, an innovative and easy-to-use device to make water accessible in public places for the practice.
The 5-foot portable wash station has a 200-litre water storage tank, a hand basin, and a waste disposal container with a capacity of 60-litre, all mounted on a metal pedestal.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has tasked Member States with making hand hygiene facilities mandatory in private and public spaces to aid in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic; thus, the introduction of the Poly Safe Wash is part of Polytank Ghana's commitment to promoting a healthy and safe environment for the people of Ghana. This innovative product is also an initiative to support the Ghanaian government in fighting the spread of the disease with local solutions and technology.
The Poly Safe Wash station, on the average, provides a minimum of 100 hand washes per every 200-litre water storage tank, making it suitable for areas of high population such as private and public institutions, health care facilities, educational facilities, religious facilities, security service offices, and other trafficked areas.
